Latrobe Street Mission needs operating expenses to be able to continue helping the homeless community that we serve daily. We understand people are struggling now because the cost of living is simply higher. Skyrocketing food, gas, utility, and living costs make extra income for donations a thing of the past. We have been working feverishly to secure grants for capital improvements to our facilities like a new roof, restrooms, a heating system, a computer lab to help our residents secure jobs and get much needed trainings. We can get large grants for THINGS, but not for operating expenses. This includes paying the gas, electric, water, food, maintenance, fuel, trash, cable, phone, internet, and countless other bills that come in each month. Not to mention payroll for 13 full time employees.
For the last 3 years, Latrobe Street Mission has been doing what we always do; getting people off the streets, keeping them safe, and giving them a chance to become independent again. Our numbers for the last 3 years have stayed consistently around 70 which is overflowing for us. In the same 3 years, our expenses have increased tremendously, and our donations have decreased tremendously. Now we have depleted most of our savings on operating expenses.
WE ARE IN DIRE NEED OF YOUR HELP. Whether you decide to give a gift of $10 per month or $1000 per month, that helps us continue the good work that we have been doing here for years. That money helps us keep the lights on, provide hot showers, 3 meals a day, basic necessities, and a warm bed to 70 some men, women and children each night.
